Britain grapples with role for Islamic justice
By hawk7
Wed Nov 19, 2008 01:48 PM
LONDON: The woman in black wanted an Islamic divorce. She told the religious judge that her husband hit her, cursed her and wanted her dead. But her husband was opposed, and the Islamic scholar adjudicating the case seemed determined to keep the couple together. So, sensing defeat, she brought our her secret weapon: her father. In walked a bearded man in long robes who described his son-in-law as a hot-tempered man who had duped his daughter, evaded the police and humiliated his family. The judge promptly reversed himself and recommended divorce. This is Islamic justice, British style. Despite a raucous national debate over the limits of religious tolerance and the pre-eminence of British law, the tenets of Shariah, or Islamic law, are increasingly being applied to everyday life in cities across the country. The Church of England has its own ecclesiastical courts. British Jews have had their own "beth din" courts for more than a century. Why is the west so afraid of these pigs?

The government also wants more school-based clinics to administer the jabs, which can make girls infertile for up to three months. Royal Navy in firefight with Somali pirates
By starspangled
Wed Nov 12, 2008 05:57 PM
The gun battle was in stark contrast to the Royal Navy’s last encounter with a boatful of armed men - when crew members of HMS Cornwall, also a Type 22 frigate, patrolling in the Gulf in rigid raiders, were surrounded by heavily armed Iranian Revolutionary Guards in March last year. Eight sailors, including a woman, Leading Seaman Faye Turney, and seven Marines were taken hostage without a shot being fired, and detained for 13 days. The Commons Defence Committee described the incident as “a national embarrassment”. Yesterday’s battle signalled a new policy of maximum robustness for the Royal Navy on the high seas. ..
Much better.

More Police state measures being test in UK before use in US; this time - national ID cards
By geebart
Tue Nov 11, 2008 04:36 AM
Looks like the national ID card system they want to do in the US is being tried in the UK first; despite concerns (PAPERS ! PAPERS please!) ID card costs rise - but is the security weakening? Critics attack 'flash and go' cards Tags: nir, identity, security, biometrics By Nick Heath Published: 7 November 2008 13:05 GMT Show related articles Opponents of ID cards have renewed their attacks on the scheme, claiming security is being watered down even as the cost of the cards rises. Cards will only be checked against biometric details on the National Identity Register (NIR) in a "minority of cases" according to Home Office documents, prompting accusations it has been relegated to a "flash and go" card. The Home Office consultation documents said: "Most transactions involving the identity cards are likely to be visual checks of the card, or a local check of the information held on the card (e.g. using a scanner). ID cards: Latest news ♦ First ID card trials announced for airport staff ♦ ID cards on driving licences - 'law can't stop us' ♦ 'ID card guinea pig' pilots ready to call in lawyers ♦ ID card 'will drown in a billion mismatches' ♦ Photos: A first glimpse of the ID card ♦ One million ID cards every year from 2009 "In only a minority of cases - requiring the highest standard of identity assurance - will it be necessary to check identity against information on the NIR." Ian Angell, a professor at the London School of Economics (LSE) and one of the authors of a report into the scheme, said this undermines the government's claim the ID card system will offer a rock-solid way of verifying a person's identity by locking an ID to biometric details on a secure database. And Phil Booth national co-ordinator for ID cards pressure group NO2ID said: "It makes the whole system a nonsense, the government is saying that ultimately the whole national identity scheme will come down to a 'flash and go' system. "A system that is presumed secure which is in fact insecure, then that is worse than having no system at all." LSE's Angell said: "If they do not check the database then fraud will go up as criminals will quickly figure this out and be able to make a copy of the card and change the photo. "These shortcuts are going to turn it into a hugely expensive failure." But an Identity and Passport Service spokesman denied the system would be vulnerable to fraud: "The majority of instances where people use their identity cards will be day to day situations where the cards offer a convenient method of proving identity such as a young person proving their age to buy alcohol," he said. "Whenever the highest level of identity assurance is vital to prevent fraudulent and criminal activity - such as high end financial transactions or at our borders - checks will always be made against the national identity register. "The card itself will be protected against forgery by a number of security features. The Identity and Passport Service has issued more than 12 million ePassports to date and nobody has successfully cloned the chip," the spokesman said.

By starspangled

"...And if we learn from our experience of turning unity of purpose into unity of action, we can together seize this moment of change in our world to create a truly global society."
New World Order (conspiracy theory) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see New World Order or NWO (disambiguations). SNIP New World Order refers to a supposed conspiracy in which a powerful and secretive group is plotting to eventually rule the world via an autonomous world government, which would replace sovereign states and other checks and balances in world power struggles. In this theory, many significant occurrences are said to be caused by a powerful secret group or groups. Historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to rule the world primarily through a combination of political finance, social engineering, mind control, and fear-based propaganda.[1][2][3][4][5]

The clergyman told stunned casualty nurses he fell backwards on to his kitchen table while hanging curtains. He happened to be nude at the time of the mishap. . . . When medical staff were questioned on the incident, all they could do was laugh in response. The vicar in question has received many get well cards and love letters from curious and excited Frenchmen.
