By Flamin_Peugot
Tue Nov 18, 2008 04:31 PM
France has claimed ownership of the Hope Diamond, a star exhibit in Washington's Smithsonian Institution, using new research to suggest it is actually a legendary gem once owned by King Louis XIV that was looted in the French Revolution.
So basically the fnerch are accusing our honourable American friends of being thieves. Surely this is tantamount to a declaration of war. There is only one appropriate response to such an insult. NUKE FNARCE !!

French President Nicolas Sarkozy backed down from comments
By FrenchAreToast
Sat Nov 15, 2008 06:47 PM
French President Nicolas Sarkozy backed down from comments critical of a planned U.S. missile defense system in Europe. At a summit with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday, Sarkozy said the missile shield plans were misguided and will not make Europe safer. Those comments had been the strongest to date by an American ally against the missile-defense plans — and undercut the rationale behind President George W. Bush's European security strategy. But after Saturday's global financial summit with other world leaders, Sarkozy said: "Ultimately, it could be a complement against a missile threat coming from elsewhere, for example, Iran."

Is Sarkozy a closet socialist?
By Bombs_Away_LeMay
Fri Nov 14, 2008 09:14 AM
Mr Sarkozy was elected last year on a promise to get the French back to work, to allow them to earn more, to end the welfare culture and to encourage risk and reward merit. But recently the president has sounded a different note. He has declared that “laissez-faire capitalism is over” and railed against the “dictatorship of the market”. He is setting up a “strategic national investment fund” to take stakes in French companies so as to protect them from foreign predators. His prime minister, François Fillon, has threatened to nationalise banks unless they lend more to companies. And Mr Sarkozy has also pledged to create 100,000 state-subsidised jobs of just the sort favoured by a former Socialist government, which he denounced vigorously during his election campaign. This lurch to the left has not gone unremarked by real socialists. Martin Schulz, German leader of the Socialist group in the European Parliament, has congratulated the French president for “speaking like a real European socialist”. It was a taunt that the president chose, uncharacteristically, not to dismiss. “Have I become socialist?” he wondered. “Perhaps.”

Bonfire night fireworks spark panic in Paris
By Flamin_Peugot
Thu Nov 13, 2008 03:09 PM
The director of one of the most prestigious theatres in Paris has complained to the British Embassy after its Guy Fawkes firework display sparked panic during a premiere. The British Embassy sparked a bomb scare when it held a display on November 7 in its huge garden for 200 British staff. The noise of the explosions interrupted the performance of Alain Delon and actress Anouk Aimée – star of Sixties hit A Man and a Woman – who had just begun the premiere of Love Letters by American playwright A R Gurney.

Anarchists held over sabotage that brought havoc to French railway network
By Bombs_Away_LeMay

Image hotlink - 'http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/trikatnieks/westbanksatlantic.jpg' Anti-terrorist police arrested ten members of a violent, French anarchist movement accused of causing chaos on the country's railways by sabotaging overhead power cables today. The arrests brought relief to railway executives after days of pandemonium, but fuelled concern over a revival of the extreme left-wing movements which sowed terror in Europe in the 1970s and 1980s. A manifesto published Sunday—subtitled "Oui, nous pouvons!", the French translation of Obama's campaign slogan "Yes, we can!"—urges affirmative action-like policies and other steps to turn French ideals of equality into reality for millions of blacks, Arabs and other alienated minorities. French Ghettos, Police Violence and Racism
By starspangled
Fri Nov 07, 2008 12:31 PM
The recent curfews and emergency measures are the failed tools of France colonial past; what is needed is a change in attitudes. It is the French establishment and the French society that bear the responsibility for this system of conscious racism. Once this system is removed and its roots cut out the French society, France can be proud of its ideal. It is time France revisits and takes seriously its ideal of Liberté, Fraternité and Égalité. France ought to reconsider its fraudulent policies of anti-Arabs and anti-Muslims prejudice. Or maybe France needs another French revolution?

A plump Asian man in a pinstriped suit was caught on video the other week walking into the Sainte Anne hospital in a leafy street in Paris. He was Kim Jong-nam, eldest son of the ailing dictator of North Korea. Two days later the elegant figure of Professor François-Xavier Roux, 57, chief neurosurgeon at Sainte Anne and a close friend of Bernard Kouchner the French Foreign Minister, was filmed at Charles de Gaulle airport boarding a flight to Beijing and thence, it is suspected, to the bedside of Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang. Vichy gets chance to lay ghost of Nazi past as France hosts summit
By Bombs_Away_LeMay

Vichy, on the Allier river, is to host ministers from the 27 EU states on Monday as they seek to harmonise immigration policy. They are to meet in the same Second Empire building where the parliament of defeated France abolished the Republic in July 1940 and handed power to the ageing Pétain. At the same time, Gérard Charasse, 64, a centre-left MP, is to table a Bill in parliament to outlaw the use by officials of the word Vichy as a synonym for the regime that betrayed France and deported thousands of Jews to their deaths. [Frogs trying rewrite to history again. After all "deporting thousands of Jews to their deaths" must be now viewed in the "right context"...] :(
